    Naval Support Activity (NSA) Monterey is located in Monterey, California, 120 miles south of San Francisco on the Pacific Ocean. The base provides primary support to the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), Navy Research Lab (NRL), and the Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC). NPS is the largest producer of advanced graduate degrees for the Department of Defense and proudly graduates thousands every year from all services and from more than 50 countries. This approximately 24-page full-color publication is distributed through Navy Welcome Aboard packets, Housing Service Centers, bachelor housing, MWR, Fleet & Family Support centers, and NEX facilities.     The favorite of Monterey peninsula golfers, Monterey Pines is a challenging course with spectacular views. The fully-stocked golf pro shop offers professional equipment fitting, private and group instruction at reasonable prices. The Monterey Pines Golf Course is open to the public, includes a driving range and bar and grill used by 72,216 patrons annually.

  • Sailors Home-Away-From-Home • Liberty Center Programs

    Region-wide Liberty Centers are for enlisted active duty. Each center is an alcohol-and tobacco-free facility designed to be the Sailor’s “home away from home.” Liberty Centers offer in-house activities from pool tournaments and free BBQ events to life skill workshops, free internet computer stations and computer gaming. Each Liberty Center also offers trips and adventures to places like Big Bear, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, paintball and the Price is Right. All trips are open to all active duty and one guest 18 years or older. Liberty Centers serve over 2,500 Sailors annually.

    Youth Programs

    Region-wide Youth Programs offer a wide variety of recreation for children ages three to seventeen. These programs offer physical activities, field trips to theme parks and local attractions, movie nights, dances, entertainment, holiday celebrations, after school programs and many more fun events for our military children. Sponsorship for Youth Programs supports activities for approximately 480,000 annually, region-wide.

    WELCOME ABOARD FAIRS

    Quarterly - The fairs align with the Permanent Change of Station cycle and are the chief way that we welcome new families. On-base departments, community organizations and vendors provide information about program services, events and products. The activity attracts 250 quarterly.

    HAIL & FAREWELL RECEPTION FOR STUDENT 2 STUDENT (S2S), JUNIOR S2S & ELEMENTARY S2S SCHOOL BASED PROGRAM

    Quarterly - This program welcomes new military students transferring in and says goodbye to those who are transferring with their active duty parents to another assignment. Refreshments are served and introductions and information is shared to smooth the transition. The event is expected to attract 120 military youth quarterly.

    SUPER BOWL PARTY

    February 5 - Celebrating the time-honored tradition of watching the final game of the year and the craziest commercials.     RAW POWER LIFTING & BENCH PRESS COMPETITION

    March 17 - Participants compete in their age and weight class in the Raw Power Lifting Competition. Patron’s ability and strength are tested with three lifts: squat, bench press and dead lift. Winners receive awards. Expected participation is 25.

    MONTH OF THE MILITARY CHILD FESTIVAL

    April TBD - Annual festival to recognize military children. The event includes crafts, food, games, face painting, bounce houses, dance and music performances for children of all ages. This event is designed to increase awareness of child abuse & neglect by providing prevention education materials, outreach and support. Expected to attract 1,200 participants.

    DADDY-DAUGHTER DANCE

    May 19 - Fathers and their daughters enjoy music, dancing, photos and refreshments. Making it a night their daughters will never forget, the event includes centerpieces, a DJ, corsages and a professional photographer. The event is expected to attract 300 participants.

    PARTNERSHIP IN EDUCATION YEAR END PICNIC

    May 19 - This event recognizes the children of international service members for their efforts to learn the English language. Each child receives a Certificate of Achievement. Departing children receive a framed photo of themselves signed by all the volunteer tutors. Children participate in arts and crafts, games and sports activities with their tutors. Expected participation is 100 patrons.

    MOVIES ON THE LAWN

    October 27 - This is a spooky night of fun for our military community in a safe environment. Guests are treated to carnival games with prizes, light snacks and witch’s brew. Expected participation is 200.

    ARMY VS. NAVY FLAG FOOTBALL GAME

    December 8 - An annual event that coincides with the Army vs. Navy football game. Two teams face off to determine which branch is greater. The winning team receives a trophy and all participants enjoy post-game refreshments. Expected participation is 40.

    ARMY VS. NAVY GAME KICK OFF PARTY
